Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish requirements and procedures for the readmission of graduate students who have discontinued enrollment without maintaining matriculation or obtaining an approved academic leave. This policy ensures consistent evaluation of returning students and alignment with current academic standards and program requirements.
Scope
This policy applies to all master’s, doctoral, and certificate students who have earned grades at Hofstra University and have not been enrolled for at least one fall or spring semester without an approved leave of absence. It governs the readmission application process through the Office of Graduate Admission, required program director approval, and the application of current Graduate Studies Bulletin requirements upon readmission.
Policy
Master’s, doctoral and certificate students, who have earned grades and who have no record of attendance at Hofstra for one fall or spring semester, without maintaining matriculation or being granted an academic leave, must apply for readmission to the University.
Applications for readmission are submitted to the Office of Graduate Admission and must be approved by the program director. Students who are readmitted are bound by the requirements set forth in the Graduate Studies Bulletin in effect when they are readmitted.
